About Me

I find the feeling of transferring knowledge through teaching to be truly delightful. I’ve been teaching languages for many years, and I always enjoy witnessing my students’ progress—because I know I’ve had a small part in their success, and what could be sweeter than that! I teach both Chinese and English. Although English has played a bigger role in my personal and professional life, my love for the Chinese language has significantly enriched both my well-being and my experience of teaching it. When I first decided to learn Chinese, it seemed strange to many people. They would look at me with surprise and ask, “Why Chinese?” But I wanted to do something that wasn’t easy for just anyone, and that’s exactly why I chose to learn this fascinating language. Back then, I had no idea how much of an impact it could have on my personal growth! But today, as China stands as a major global power—and after years of not only enjoying the knowledge of the language but also benefiting professionally from it—I’m confident that the path I chose years ago to learn Chinese was absolutely the right one.

Teaching Method

I use the Hanyu Kouyu Sucheng textbook series, which is the most reputable and standardized collection for teaching Chinese from beginner to advanced levels, covering all four core language skills. Additionally, if a student requests to focus on a specific skill—such as conversation or business Chinese—I use materials tailored to their needs. It’s important to note that in such cases, the student should already have a solid foundation in Chinese. For children, I use an engaging five-volume set that includes songs, stories, and short cartoon videos, creating a fun yet fundamentally educational environment.
