About Me
Hello! My name is Setareh. How is it possible that just a few simple words can change the course of someone’s life? For me, that miracle happened through English. It all started with a simple class, where I realized that language is not just a collection of words, but a bridge to a greater world—a world of connection, opportunity, and growth. At the beginning of my teaching journey, I eagerly attended various TTC courses to learn how to teach more effectively. Then, in 2011, I received my international TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate from the London Teacher Training College (LTTC)—a highly recognized qualification worldwide that played a significant role in shaping my professional path. That became a turning point, marking my serious entry into the world of teaching. Since 2010, I have been teaching English to teenagers and adults at all levels, from elementary to advanced, as well as specializing in IELTS preparation. In 2022, I immigrated to Canada. Since then, I have worked as an Educational Assistant in three public schools in Toronto, gaining first-hand experience with the education system here. I learned, I made mistakes, I tried again, and each time I fell more in love with this journey. Now, I teach with all my heart, because I know that learning a language can truly transform people’s lives. For me, teaching is not just about transferring knowledge—it’s about creating an experience where learners move forward with motivation, confidence, and joy.
Teaching Method
My teaching method is a combination of my learners’ needs and my own experience in teaching. I believe no two learners are alike. That’s why my classes are always designed based on each learner’s needs, goals, level, and interests. This means you don’t just enter a classroom—you step into a learning journey that is uniquely yours. Over the years of teaching general English, I have worked with well-known coursebooks such as *Interchange, American Headway, English Result,* and *Touchstone*. However, my teaching is never limited to these books. Depending on each learner’s goals, I also use storybooks and podcasts tailored to their level and interests, making the learning process more real, enjoyable, and effective. In addition, I use practical resources like *Grammar in Use* and *Vocabulary in Use* as supplementary materials to strengthen core skills. When it comes to IELTS, my approach is highly specialized and hands-on. Using the *Cambridge IELTS* series (volumes 9–15), I design my classes in a way that immerses learners in the exam atmosphere right from the very beginning. There is no place for dry, theoretical teaching—learners are actively engaged every moment through consistent practice and real-life challenges. For Listening and Reading, I cover all the question types that may appear on the exam, step by step, ensuring that learners know exactly which strategies to apply to each question type in order to achieve a higher score. In Speaking, all three parts are studied in detail, and through practicing frequently asked questions and common topics, learners build full mastery. Extensive, purposeful practice is an inseparable part of every session. Feedback plays a central role in my IELTS classes. In each session, learners receive precise feedback so they know what they did well and where they need to improve. I also design homework tasks with clear deadlines, followed by another round of detailed feedback to ensure steady progress. Overall, my goal is for classes not to be just about transferring information, but to create an environment for growth, experience, deep learning, and achieving learners’ real goals.
