About Me

Hello everyone! I hope you're all doing great. My name is Banafsheh, and I've been working as a French teacher for about 11 years in language institutes, bilingual schools, and privately (online). My passion for teaching started during my undergraduate studies when I was introduced to a private girls' school to teach French in after-school classes as a part-time job. Honestly, at first, I couldn't believe how I could connect so easily with the kids and teach them what I knew in a simple and understandable way, despite having no prior teaching experience or formal teacher training. But I did it! That’s when I realized I had found a career that truly suited my personality and abilities. So, I decided to explore the world of teaching adults as well. I started applying to language institutes, and soon enough, I was accepted by one. That was the beginning of my love story with teaching French! I remember being so excited about my job that I took on full-time classes while continuing to study and improve my language skills. After a few months, I was recognized as a Top Teacher, and the following year, I was offered the position of French Department Supervisor. But my teaching journey didn't stop there. I continued working in different institutes and schools and pursued my master's degree in French Language Teaching. What excites me the most about teaching is connecting with new people, especially children and teenagers. The most rewarding part of being a French teacher is seeing my students' progress and hearing them speak in French. And of course, seeing those little students greeting me with a "Bonjour!" from behind their laptop screens! 😊

Teaching Method

For children and teenage classes, which are my main area of expertise, different teaching methods are used depending on the age group. For children under 10 years old, the Alex et Zoé method is used, while for children over 10 years old and teenagers, the methods Les Loustics and Le Mag are applied. Of course, in addition to the main textbooks, engaging videos related to each lesson’s topic, flashcards, and French children's songs are incorporated into the lessons. At the end of each lesson, I usually include a simple game to reinforce the vocabulary and grammar covered in class. These games include activities like guessing words through pantomime, Hangman, and more. Additionally, at the end of each book section, if possible, I introduce a creative activity where students work with me online to make a craft project based on a selected theme. All of these activities help reinforce the concepts taught in class. For adult classes, the Édito 2023 method is used. Alongside the main textbook, Vocabulaire Progressif and Grammaire Progressive are incorporated based on the lesson topics. After completing each lesson, students solve exercises in the workbook, and in the next session, 15 minutes are dedicated to reviewing them. At the end of each unité, some sessions are specifically allocated to watching excerpts from a movie or series and discussing its theme, as well as listening to French music to enhance comprehension and cultural immersion.
