About Me
Hi! I’m Lilia. I moved to Toronto when I was five and have grown up here ever since. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences at Western University, where I specialized in Physiology and Pharmacology. I’ve always been interested in how the body works, but more importantly, in how that knowledge can actually help people. Through my experiences in school, research, and volunteering, I’ve come to really value listening, being patient, and trying to understand where people are coming from. I’m working toward becoming a doctor so I can combine science with centered care. Outside of that, I enjoy staying connected to my community and being involved in spaces where I can support others and keep learning.
Teaching Method
I am a very visual learner, and that shapes how I teach. I like to take my time with concepts. If something does not make sense, I will not rush past it. I think it is important to slow down and really understand the why, because some topics click quickly while others need more time, and that is completely normal. As a Kumon teaching assistant, I have worked with multiple students at once, all at different levels, especially in an online setting. That experience taught me that every student learns differently. Some need more structure, some learn better visually, and others benefit from practice and repetition. There is no single approach that works for everyone. I have also gone through the entire Canadian school system, from kindergarten to completing my Bachelor’s degree, and I have a younger sibling as well. This has made me very familiar with what students are learning at each stage. Because of that, I try to tailor my teaching to each student’s level, pace, and learning still.
