About Me
I’m Alborz Aeini, a harmonica instructor and player with over 15 years of experience in music and around 9 years of experience teaching both online and in person. My musical journey began with the guitar, but after discovering the harmonica, it became my main instrument due to its melodic freedom, unique sound, and its constant presence in musical expression. In recent years, my main focus has been on chromatic harmonica, jazz music, and improvisation. Alongside harmonica instruction, I also work on improvisation and jazz concepts for wind instruments. Students who already have a reasonable level of technical control and performance ability on their instrument can join my classes to learn improvisation, phrasing, musical ear training, and the language of jazz. My goal in teaching is not only to develop technical skills but also to help students build a deeper connection with music and enjoy the process of practice, listening, and playing.
Teaching Method
The most important principle in my classes is learning how to enjoy listening to, practicing, and playing music. My teaching approach is designed based on each student’s time, energy, goals, and individual characteristics, and I aim to help every student find their own personal and practical learning path. In the classes, in addition to harmonica techniques, we also cover music theory, rhythm, solfège, ear training, and improvisation concepts to ensure a deeper and more musical understanding of music. It is very important to me that students can communicate musically with other musicians. For this reason, I provide accompaniment tracks (such as piano or guitar) for practice pieces, so students can experience ensemble playing and a more realistic musical environment. Throughout the course, we also listen to works by different artists and discuss their style, sound, phrasing, and musical perspective.
