About Me

Hello, I’m Alireza Salehi, a math teacher and origami instructor. I remember liking math from the very first day of school. Being able to measure, count, discover reasons, recognize shapes, make comparisons, and solve puzzles and problems I didn’t know the answers to always made me happy. When I entered the field of mathematics at university, I felt more deeply how much math influences thinking and understanding various aspects of life. I had already started teaching math in those years, and each time I taught, it revealed hidden aspects of mathematics to me. Over the years, I have tried to share the beauty of mathematical thinking with others—and to learn from them as well.

Teaching Method

My teaching approach is usually based on the understanding I gain from my students. I try to act more as a guide and companion rather than a talkative instructor. In class, I use plenty of diverse examples from things we've seen or heard to make the topics more relatable and meaningful for the students. In most of my classes, my students talk more than I do. I simply guide them so they can arrive at what they are meant to learn on their own and truly enjoy the process of learning. In origami, I usually start by introducing the foundational bases, essential forms, and standard symbols of the paper-folding world. My focus is on nurturing the students’ creativity and independence as they build origami structures—from simple to complex.
